Description Reliability and sealing performance at high temperature

Charge-air coolers improve the effectiveness of turbo chargers. Volkswagen turned to Stanyl TW200F6 as the solution for the charge-air cooler end caps in the 2003 Volkswagen Golf PQ 35, with its 1.9 and 2.0 liter Turbodiesel (TDI) engines and the 2.0 liter 147kW turbo direct injection gasoline (Turbo FSI) engine. Unlike competing materials, Stanyl offers a high maximum use temperature of 215ºC for these end caps together with a great combination of high stiffness and strength at high temperatures. This ensures reliable sealing performance over the vehicle life under the dynamic pressures used. Also driving Stanyl's success is its ease of processing and temperature performance, Stanyl is easier to mold at lower temperatures with faster cycle times than other PPA's, resulting in cost savings.

Getting the maximum torque out of automotive diesel engines with minimal fuel consumption and lower emissions, has been a driving force in Europe. Turbocharged diesel engines can offer essentially the same driver feel for acceleration, power, and overall comfort. US automakers and fuel refiners are developing diesel engines and fuels that meet stiffer US regulations on emissions.
