Stanyl® TW200F6 - PA46-GF30 |
| Description | When it comes to lawn and garden equipment, you won't find a more astute competitor than Echo, Inc. They have been serving the professional market for years and have managed to stay ahead of the curve by offering their customers the very latest technology. Their core skill set is around engines and they rely on suppliers to help them design and engineer using the best materials. That's just what DSM Engineering Plastics did for the muffler housings for Echo's chain saws and trimmers. The heat to which these components were exposed was rising due to new governmental regulations for exhaust emissions while maintaining the power customers demanded from Echo products. StanylŪ high heat polyamide is a perfect fit for these parts. Not only can StanylŪ handle elevated temperatures but it also retains almost all of its impact strength at these elevated temperatures better than many other high temperature polyamides. Impact strength is severely tested when the muffler housings are dropped from high elevations at higher temperatures, resulting in breakage. DSM knew that StanylŪ TW200F6 could offer significant improvements related to those concerns about impact resistance.
A mold trial and tests by an independent lab conclusively proved that StanylŪ was indeed a much better solution that other high temperature nylons. The cost position of StanylŪ was also important. Not only did DSM improve the performance of the housings at higher temperatures, but they also saved Echo money with a significant improvement in cycle times. |
