Description A turbocharger is basically an air pump in which hot exhaust gases leaving the engine after combustion are routed directly to the turbine wheel side of the turbocharger to make it rotate. Contained within the turbocharger is the inlet elbow. The inlet elbow manages the rush of cold inlet air that enters into the turbocharger where it becomes compressed and sent on to the engine for combustion. This elbow is fastened to the metal housing of the turbocharger. No gasket is used at this interface so the surface of the elbow at the joint must be completely flat and blemish-free to avoid an air leak.

Stanyl's high heat resistance and retention of mechanical properties at elevated temperatures make it the best choice for the GarrettŪ inlet elbow. In addition, Stanyl TW200F6 offers superior fatigue resistance. The elbow, currently used on diesel pickup trucks, will eventually be used in vans and other light/medium duty vehicles.
